DESCRIPTION OF Coated EPS Foam

Expanded Polystyrene (EPS), is a perfect thermoplastic isolation materialgained due to expanding gas and polymerization of styrene.
In the numerous microscopic closed pores (in 1 m² EPS-3-6 billion pores holds a plenty of stationary air.
As is known that stationary air is one of the best heat insulation materials, quality EPS is provided by this feature. In a kind of that the material consists 98 % of air, it is easy and not deals additional weight To a building.
Having given the necessary form it is possible to use both in heat insulation and in the packing industry.

GENERAL PROPORTIES OF Coated EPS Foam

– Majority of EPS features vary depending on its density. As an heat insulation material it is produced with a density of 15 – 30 kg/m³.
– It is the most economic insulation material.
– Is not fragile as a heat insulation material and also elastic.
– Provides fine heat insulation and this property grows directly proportionally to density.
– Up to the standards of DIN 4102 belongs to B1 class – “hardly burning materials”.
– Low vapour permeability makes it the most suitable material for application on buildings. Vapour diffusion coefficient may vary between 20 – 100 depending on density.
– Resistive to mechanical pressure (this property either grows proportionally to density).
– Due to closed pores almost does not wet.
– Does not change its thickness with the time.
– Environment friendly. Does not contain such substances as CFC, HCFC ve HFC harmful to ozone layer. Fully rescyclable material.
– Durable continues to fulfil its function while the building stands.
– Light. Easy to carry and to apply.

Heat Resistivity:

As in all other materials oh this kind its resistivity towards exerted heat changes depending on duration of exertion, and the temperature.
If maximum temperature can be endured for a short period of time is 100ºC, when in long period of exertion it decreases to 75-80. Due to this reason EPS is a fine heat insulation material for cold regions.

Pressure Resistivity:

Also changes due to the duration of exertion.
Pressure resistivity grows proportionally to the density.
High density increases its durability against stretching, bending or other harmful effects.

Moisture Absorption:

Moisture absprption rate differs depending on are the pores closed or not.
Moisture absorption of EPS if the contact with moisture takes place on the surface with closed pores is very low.
Due to low moisture absorption rate and that Styrene which is main material for EPS is no dissolved in water EPS does not cease its qualities in wet environment.
